SpeedTrace: GPS Speedometer

SpeedTrace turns your iPhone into a beautiful, glanceable GPS speedometer and trip recorder. Driving, cycling, running or sailing — see your real speed in big, high-contrast digits, watch your route draw itself on the map, and keep a history of everywhere you've been.
Free to download. No ads. No account. No tracking. Everything is a one-time purchase.
— TWELVE SPEEDOMETER FACES —
• Classic: the original arc gauge, free forever
• Horizon: snow, timber or coast scrolling past at your speed, under the sky outside right now (Pro only)
• Aurora: curtains of light that shift color as you go, with not a single line on them
• Chrono: an observatory watch in blued steel, with two live subdials
• Minimal, Retro LCD, Analog, Neon, Vintage, Rally, Turbo and Digital Cluster
• Try any locked face for 30 seconds on the road before you decide
— A SKY THAT FOLLOWS THE SUN —
• The whole app is colored by the sky outside — dawn, midday, dusk, night
• Worked out from the sun's angle where you are, not from a clock
— BIG, GLANCEABLE SPEED —
• Large, high-contrast readout you can read at a glance
• Switch units instantly: km/h, mph, knots or m/s
• Live altitude, compass heading, session max & average speed
• Honest GPS status — we never fake a confident reading on a weak signal
— HUD MODE —
• Mirrors your speed onto the windshield after dark
• Green while you're clear, red the moment you're over the limit
— LIVE ROUTE MAP —
• Watch your route draw itself in real time; follow mode keeps you centered, and you can pan freely anytime
— TRIP RECORDING & HISTORY —
• One tap to start; keeps going with the screen off
• Automatic recording (optional): driving starts a trip, parking ends it
• Trips come back as postcards — your route on a map, in the sky color of the hour you drove
• Every trip saved with distance, duration, max/average speed and climb
• Detail view with speed and elevation charts, and a share card of your route
• Export as GPX or CSV to analyze elsewhere
— SPEED LIMIT & ALERTS (optional) —
• Shows the posted limit for the road you're on, from OpenStreetMap
• Coverage varies by road; where none is published, SpeedTrace says so instead of guessing
• Gentle voice and sound alerts when you go over
• Leave it off and the app uses no network at all
— LIVE ACTIVITY, WIDGET & SYNC —
• Keep your live speed in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen
• Home-screen widget, plus iCloud sync to every device you own
— 0–100 ACCELERATION TIMING —
• Time a standing start: 0–100 km/h or 0–60 mph, and keep every run to compare
— BUILT FOR EVERY JOURNEY —
• Day & night themes, six color palettes for your dial, and a keep-screen-awake option so your speed never dims away
— WHAT'S FREE, WHAT'S PRO —
Free: the Classic dial, all four units, the live map, unlimited trip history, trip charts, GPX/CSV export, speed limit alerts, automatic recording, share cards, Live Activity, the widget and iCloud sync.
SpeedTrace Pro is a single one-time purchase that unlocks every paid dial — including Horizon, which is sold no other way, and every dial added in future at no extra cost — along with HUD mode, 0–100 timing, the color palettes and the alternate app icons. Individual dials can also be bought on their own.
— PRIVACY FIRST —
No servers, no accounts. Your trips, routes and speed history live only on your device and in your own iCloud. We don't collect analytics, we don't track you, and we never sell your data. The optional Speed Limit feature is the only thing that touches the network — and only when you turn it on.
— QUESTIONS? WE ANSWER —
Something not working, or a feature you wish existed? Email support@mzjpg.com — a real person reads every message and replies, usually within a day. And if SpeedTrace has earned its place on your home screen, a review means a lot to an independent developer.
Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. SpeedTrace uses background location only while recording a trip.
